Functional Mushroom Butter
SERVINGS: ~½ cup butter | TIME: 15 minutes active + chilling time
This simple two-ingredient recipe transforms Mushroom Spice into a rich, spreadable functional butter. Creamy, subtly spiced, and deeply nourishing — it’s perfect on banana bread, sourdough toast, muffins or baked sweet potatoes.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp Mushroom Spice spice blend
- 4 oz heavy whipping cream
Instructions:
Add the heavy whipping cream and Mushroom Spice to a jar with a tight-fitting lid.
Shake vigorously for about 10 minutes, until the cream thickens and separates into butter solids and buttermilk.
Strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to separate the butter from the liquid.
Transfer to a small container and chill until firm and spreadable.
Notes:
The leftover liquid is fresh mushroom buttermilk! Save it for baking or smoothies.
For a firmer texture, refrigerate at least 30–60 minutes before serving.
